Russia is getting closer to the European Community.
On the 2nd of October Yaroslavl received the honorary prize -
the banner of the European Council. In the April 2003 Yaroslavl
has been rewarded with the flag of the European Council.
The representative of the Parliamentary Assembly of the
EC Victor Ruffi came to give the banner to the natives.
Yaroslavl is the beautiful city that situated on the so-called
Russian Golden Ring. It became a place that attracts an attention
of the people from Europe. More and more foreigners come there being
welcome. The banner of the EC is not only a piece of material on
the wooden stick - it's a symbol. The blue color on it symbolizes
the blue sky of the western world, the 12 stars - the union of the
all European people. The banner made of the real French silk.
Presenting this gift to the Yaroslavl Victor Ruffi said that
the city deserves it for developing friendship between the nations.

The Young Indian Ambassadors come to Russia
The group of Indian pupils came to Moscow and Saint-Petersburg for 10 days with the cultural exchange program. 12 pupils and 3 teachers came to establish friendly relations with Russia.
The children are going to meet Russian children of their age. They are performing Indian culture, studying the Russian one, go sightseeing.
During last months the young ambassadors have been learning Russian with application, prepared songs and dancing performances. The ambassador of Russian Federation in India Alexander Kadakin wishes to the children to get as much good impressions as possible and to find new friends.

Russia and Germany decided to strengthen their language and cultural relationships.
Moscow. The 19th of October. The Government of the Russian Federation
is going to sign a project of agreement with the Government of
the Federal German republic concerning studying Russian in Germany and German
in Russia! In the opinion of the Governments of both countries,
"the improvement of Russian and German knowledge will promote the
expansion and mutual understanding between our nations". It means
that both Governments will stimulate teaching language, literature
and culture of the friendly power in all types of educational establishments.
To say easier, it will help Russians to travel around the world and to find much
more German speaking friends abroad. To Germans it means having much less troubles with living, working, studying in Russia.

Russia in… Frankfurt! The official opening of the Book Fair took place in Frankfurt.
This year the guest of honour status belongs to Russia. The motto of the Russian
exposition is "Russia - new pages". The special status lets occupy the central pavilion
(3000 sq. m.) and perform books from 182 publishing houses. Besides, the exhibition
"Saint-Petersburg is 300" takes place in a pavilion-forum of 2500 sq. m. As many
as 264 Russian representatives came to Frankfurt, more then 100 of them being
Russian writers. Among them there are such extremely popular Russian writers as
Viktor Pelevin and Boris Akunin. The authors perform their works, discuss them
with the visitors. The Russian president Putin is also expected to visit the Fair,
so one can draw a conclusion about the importance of this event. Well, it seems
like the Great Russian literature is still alive and is not going to die…
 
The Latvian TV supports a free announcement in Russian
Heads of the Latvian commercial telechannel of TV - 5 have addressed
to parliament of the country with the offer to make amendments to the
law on TV and radio and to cancel restrictions on an announcement in foreign languages.
